Take me back to the Nissan Stagea menu for all blog posts.
Time to start undersealing the Nissan Stagea... We've always been a fan of Hammerite Underbody Seal with added Waxoyl. It gives heavy duty protection, great corrosion resitance, never seems to need re-applying. It protects against sones, walter, salt. It remains flaxible and never seems to crack. We have done a number of cars with it, and would be hard pressed to change to another product. Due to the time of year, being a little chilli. We do use a heater to warm it up. Just a little unde desk heater, nothing special. IT just warms the tin slightly, heling with application. Analogy I will give is like trying to spread butter straight from the fridge.
We find, with a bit of time and patience, we can give it a factory look. Probably takes us nearly twice the amount of time we could probably do it in, but the finish is worth it. We started off by removing the suspension, then getting a stiff hand brush to clean the surfaces
Some areas where there was a little surface rust, we used a wirebrush to clean it up a little.
Then with lots and lots of patience.
We slowly edged our way around the car.
We are very happy with the finished results. From start to finish, it probably took us about 3 days. This does seem like a long time, but we approached it with an air of 'do it properly, do it once'. Shouldn't need to worry about any rust. We'll have a look again in a couple of years or so, but should be fine for therest of the lifetime of the vehicle. Undersealing a car really can help preserve it. Especially on Japanese cars, as they don't have much in the way of underbody protection from the factory.
