Nurburg Ring Track Day with Circuit Days
After a few busy weeks getting the car ready, it was time to load up and make our way to the Nurburgring.
We were heading off to a track day at the Nurburging. This is different from a touristenfahrten (or TF day). The main difference being on a trackday you get the use of the full circuit including döttinger höhe which is the main straight. The number of cars is limited from 500 down to around 180.
Our adventure started at 0700, all 5 of us meeting up. Alan Cox from Ac Mechanicals was our mobile workshop and transportation for the weekend in his Rig.
We boarded the 1150 Eurostar, bound for Germany...
(not to forget having to spend a small fortune in the terminal shop for GB stickers and lens covers).
Its around 300 miles from Calais to our Hotel in Daun.
We arrived at the hotel around 1800 local time, where after unloading our bags, a quick burger in the hotel bar, time to hit the sack, ready for a TF day the following day.
An early start with breakfast at 0700. An all you can eat fried buffet to give us a good start to the day ! The hotel was about 20 mins away from the track, a nice drive through the countryside.
We set up camp for the day.
Time to prepare the car, although, I think it might have been a little early for Lee. We checked all the normal items, fuel, oil, water, tyres pressures etc !
Where else in the world can you be at a race circuit on one side, and have such wonderful views on the other side.
As we had the Stagea with us, rude not to take that for a few laps !
A fairly busy day as to be expected on a Sunday TF day. Always some interesting things to see.
Not to worry, as our main event was on the Tuesday for the track day. The main differences between a TF day and a track day at the Ring are (not limited to the below)
-Limited to around 180 cars only on track at any one time (TF day is a mix of cars and bikes, buses etc, can can reach near 500 vehicles on track at any one time
-Use of the full 3km staight.
After a good lie in, Monday was a chilled day, little bit of site seeing, bit of driving around, generally not getting up to much. We had a little play with the drone !

The track day briefing was held at the Lidner Hotel the night before, meaning more time on track the following day !
Impressive place, can't miss it !
After the briefing, we had time to have a wonder around the shops, looking at the cars, and having a subway !
TRACK DAY !!!!
Early start after not a lot sleep due to the excitement !
The day started at the track, ready for siting laps from 0800 – 0900.
Always time to get a photo under the sign first of course !
Siting laps here meant there were 4 or 5 siting cars on the track. We queued up in the pit lane waiting for the next siting car, before we were allowed out. No overtaking for the first hour. We were lucky, we ended up being the only car behind one of the siting cars, allowing for some probably slightly faster than normal siting laps !
Soon as it hit 0900, it was open, the FULL Nurburgring cicuit.

Cracking track day, day out, and very well organised by Circuit Days
EDITED – People keep asking us how fast we got on the straight. This is the only video we had from the speedo. This is LOW boost. Speedo shows just under 180mph.

After a monster lie in and breakfast, we set off in the Stagea for some site seeing of the track. Bit of an adventure in to the woods.
Thought we would take a nice photo of the car, but we got photo bombed by Alex !
