In the last blog, we spoke about Project Moff Suspension strip down. While we were waiting on a few bits, we decied to change the Oil, filter and spark plugs.
First off, time to change the spark plugs. We were fitting HKS plugs back in. HKS M40's to be precise.
First off we need to remove the old plugs.
All went straight in, no issues. The reason we go for the HKS spark plugs in our Nissan Skyline is due to their length. They are everso slightly longer than other brands, therefore apparently seat better in the coil pack. We have never had any issues with other brands, but always good to take advice from the pro's !
Next up, changing the Engine Oil. We like to use Motel 300V 15W50. As the RB26DETT engine has an extended and baffled sump, it takes a bit more oil than the average engine. Nearly 8 litres (normal engines are just under 5 litres).
Time to drain the old engine oil. Still looks nice and clear. We are a big believer than you can never change the engine oil too much, but you can certainly not change it often enough. Mileage wise, this oil has probably done less than 500 miles.
New filter on the right, next to old oil filter on the left.
New Motul 300V 15W50 going in
Nice and clear new engine oil...
In case we forget when we last did it, a permenant marker comes in handy !
Soon as the new bits arrive, we can crack straight on with putting all the new Hardrace suspension parts back together.
Follow the next part, where we fit start to fit Hardrace adjustable supension arms
