Last time we spoke about the fact we have the worlds first Nitron NTR3 for the Nissan Skyline R33 GTS-t.
Before the car goes off for some work to Abbey Motorsport, there are a few little things to do.
The H1 HID kit we had on the car is a good few years old, and technology has moved on. Also the wiring had become a little untidy over the years.
So, we bought a new HID kit. Well, 2 infact. This kit is an H1 for Skyline fitment, and we went for the 6000k option.
If you compare the old and the new, you can see the new units are much smaller
Once fitted they give off a nice bright light.
Something we have done, is fitted some relays in place, so that when we turn on full beam, all 4 of the lights come on. Instead of just the inner 2. Why have we done this ? Well, 2 reasons. 1, its it much brighter at night time with 4 lights. Also, makes it easier for people to see us when we are behind them on the race circuit ! :)
Next, we looked to modify the intake system. For the last few years we have been using the re-enforced ducting, mainly as it was easy.
We had some interesting discussions with people that the ducting could introduce vortexs into the air flow intake. We don’t have any proof or testing of the difference between the two. Looking at the intake systems on a lot of cars, they were all solid. That was evidence enough for us to make the change.
We bought some 100mm right angle alloy pipe, cut it to shape and fitted it. It is now much tidier with the new HID kits, more secure, and should always flow air more smoothly into the turbo.
Next on the list was nothing too important, just something to start tidying up the engine bay a little, something we’ll be doing more of over time. The Top radiator brackets were starting to look a little worse for wear.
Sand them done ready for some paint.
Spray them. We are a fan of the black enamel spray.
It’s the little things that can make a difference. Now we need to find some new bolts !
Next time we are fitting a New Dash and Rear Diff oil catch can
