Are you looking for 4 wheel laser alignment / tracking settings for you Nissan Stagea (some use to Skylines too) ?
We were. The Stagea has worn the inside rear of the tyres.
Full alignment settings are below !
Here you could see the result from incorrect tracking. This will also explain the recent poor fuel economy.
Time to put the BBS LM's in a nice 18 x 9 ET22 back on. 2 of the tyres needed replacing, and as you now, we like the Federal RSR595.
All 4 tyres are 235/40/18
Time to get them all on the balancer. The guys are great at ALS Tyres Wokingham. I asked for the Fine settings on the balancer, bit of extra work for them, but they are more than obliging !
ALS Tyres in Wokingham, who have a Hunter Hwkeye Elite 4 wheel laser alignment machine. Hunter's new HawkEye Elite alignment system is the world's leading wheel aligner, recording four wheel alignment readings in as fast as 90 seconds! HawkEye Elite detects car alignment issues that could lead to a decrease in tyre life life and fuel economy.
On go the sensors
Rear adjustment bolts.
Below are the Hawkeye settings for the Nissan Stagea WGCN34 RG25DET RS Four Version
Below are the Haweye settings for the Nissan Stagea WGNC34 RS260 Autech version.
Here are our before readings. You will note the huge amount of camber on the car front and rear. The car has been lowered about 50mm all round on BC Racing suspension. One of teh effects of this is to increase camber, which can only really be adjusted with after market arms (which we do have and will fit at a later date)
Below are the results after the car had been set up. (We explain what all the settings are below)
Front and Rear Camber (not adjustable until we get after market arms)
Front Caster is 4 degrees
Front and rear Toe is 0 Degrees and 4 minutes.
How does teh car drive now ? Is like a totally different car, drives 'more freely', MPG is about 2 per gallow better.
We will go back to ALS Tyres Wokingham in the near future with ou adjustable arms to look at altering the camber.
What is Camber on a Nissan Skyline / Stagea (or other car)?
Camber angle is the angle made by the wheels of a vehicle; specifically, it is the angle between the vertical axis of the wheels used for steering and the vertical axis of the vehicle when viewed from the front or rear. It is used in the design of steering and suspension.
What is Caster on a Nissan Skyline / Stagea (or other car) ?
The caster angle or castor angle is the angular displacement of the steering axis from the vertical axis of a steered wheel in a car, motorcycle, bicycle or other vehicle, measured in the longitudinal direction.
Positive caster creates a lot of align torque (the force that straightens the steering wheel when you go forward) which improves straight line stability of the car. Due to the geometry of positive caster it also will increase negative camber gain (a good thing) when turning.
What is Toe on a Nissan Skyline / Stagea (or other car) ?
Negative toe, or toe out, is the front of the wheel pointing away from the centerline of the vehicle. Positive toe, or toe in, is the front of the wheel pointing towards the centerline of the vehicle. Toe can be measured in linear units, at the front of the tire, or as an angular deflection.
What is Thrust Angle on a Nissan Skyline / Stagea (or other car) ?
The thrust angle is an imaginary line drawn perpendicular to the rear axle's centerline. It compares the direction that the rear axle is aimed with the centerline of the vehicle. It also confirms if the rear axle is parallel to its front axle and that the wheelbase on both sides of the vehicle is the same.
